HPT Online #8: How a poker tournament should be
Say all you want about finding small edges, slogging it out in the trenches, small ball and all that other crap — this is my new favorite way to take down a tournament:
It’s down to 3 after the break:
Seat 1: explore1688 (6,230)
Seat 3: Rake Feeder (2,350)
Seat 7: Meltdown (3,420)
First hand after the break I jam over the top of Rob’s 3x raise. Rob calls. His AJ is no good against my AK.
Down to two:
Seat 1: explore1688 (6,110)
Seat 7: Meltdown (5,890)
Second hand after the break I jam over the top of Jeff’s 3x raise. Jeff calls. His A8 is no good against my TT ( which grew up to be a full-house ).
Do I even need to mention that his AJ next hand ran into my set of 7 ?
Yes, I am a luckbox. Still, I ran up and got a beer on break and didn’t even get to finish my first swig before the tournament was over. That’s one good beer. I’m putting in a request for all my tournaments to go down this way from now on.
Final results:
1: Meltdown, 5 knockouts
2: explore1688
3: Rake Feeder, ( 2 knockouts )
4: mwhitnee
5: ittolm
6: hilltopper90
7: winngroup
8: wwonka69
